Pizzigoni Fields in memory of Roberta Guaineri

A proposal for co-design between the public

and private sectors

A space dedicated to the memory of the former Councilor for Tourism, Sports and Quality of Life of the Municipality of Milan, Roberta Guaineri.

The project involves the redevelopment of two fields (one for soccer and one for multipurpose use) inside the courtyard of the Rinnovata Pizzigoni Comprehensive Institute.

The purpose:

Improve the lack of inclusive and accessible sports facilities in the neighborhood

Restore a space that can be used by students of local schools and young citizens

Create a place to develop social inclusion policies through sports in a structural and continuous manner

Municipio 8

Municipio 8 is the third of the 9 Municipalities of Milan for % of population of foreign origin (over 20%) and has within it the widest wage gap in the city, from the Pagano neighborhood - CityLife (average annual income of €70,714) to Quarto Oggiaro-Roserio (average annual income of €17,903).

No inclusive recreational-sports opportunities, i.e. specifically designed and adapted to the physical and socio-economic fragilities present in the area.

Istituto Comprensivo Rinnovata Pizzigoni

The Rinnovata Pizzigoni Comprehensive Institute is an essential point of reference for families and the community. The Institute is located in a buffer area, squeezed between City Life and Quarto Oggiaro. A stronghold of culture and active citizenship as well as the promotion of legality, today it has a multi-ethnic student population: 7% are Chinese students, 6% Egyptians and 5% Filipinos.

The project

A multipurpose field and a five-a-side football field

In detail, the five-a-side football field will have a fixed fence installed, with a characteristic shape, as per the drawing, which recalls the act of walking, the step, a significant element in a school context that refers to sports activity. Minimum dimensions 27 x 16, with the addition of a buffer zone and safety net.

For the multipurpose field, a fence is not planned, but the present stepped grandstand will be restored and made safe, as will the access ramp to the field, to allow people with disabilities to access the sports spaces. Minimum dimensions 28 x15.

In addition, the renovation of the changing room, near the field, and the creation of the lighting system for both fields, to allow their use also in the afternoon and evening hours.

Timetable

The arrangement of the Pizzigoni fields takes place in 3 phases: the first has already been completed, while the co-design with public and private entities of the subsequent phases is underway.
la prima è già stata realizzata, mentre è in corso la
co-progettazione con realtà pubbliche e private delle successive fasi.

2023
Levelling and replacement of doors for safety, simple first use for the Azzurrini project

2025
Complete renovation of the spaces, ensuring accessibility and additional spaces for full enjoyment of the sports experience

2026
Full use of the redone spaces both for YouSport projects and for all projects of local schools and non-profit sports organizations that orbit around them during extra-curricular hours

A resource for the community

The fields will be used for the implementation of YouSport projects and other non-profit organizations during extra-curricular hours, as well as projects of local schools. They will remain available to citizens: in addition to the approximately 2,100 children and young people of the schools involved (Pizzigoni, Puecher, Dante Alighieri and Liceo Bottoni), families in the area and organizations with social purposes will be able to use them during extra-curricular hours.

Data

aInclusion, participation and solidarity are the basis of this project that is carried out in an active network of relationships between citizens, the private sector and institutions. We want to contribute to the creation of a community and a social structure capable of intercepting the needs of the most vulnerable population and of building together with citizens and for citizens increasingly effective and useful services, projects and paths for their well-being, especially minors.

The completed work will be dedicated to the memory of the former councilor for Tourism, Sport and Quality of Life of the Municipality of Milan, Roberta Guaineri.
