KickstartHer project: a multi-ethnic women's team is born.
Same desire and identical standards: professional coaches, a F.I.G.C. athletic trainer, hospitality and mutual respect unite today more than 40 girls from 18 to 60 years old and 18 different nationalities.
The project is sponsored by the Municipality of Milan and supported by adidas, which has chosen YouSport in Europe to be part of its Adidas Breaking Barriers project, a training course against discrimination in sport and towards breaking down gender barriers.

Context
Our teams are made up of different cultures, habits and traditions, and it is in this diversity that we seek the uniqueness of our experience
Sport and Gender
From a young age, women who practice sports are fewer than men, and in sharp decline with advancing age.

Female Under-Representation
Women are systematically under-represented even at the Federal level.

Milan
In Milan, women with a residence permit for a form of protection (asylum/international protection/humanitarian reasons) have a decidedly more significant incidence compared to the national picture (23.6% compared to 14.4%).

The team
Target: adult women from fragile social contexts, whether due to their migratory paths (main target), rather than to socio-economic and personal difficulties.
Composed of approximately 42 girls, 67% of whom were not born in Italy.
19 different nationalities, age ranging from 19 to 58.
The objectives of the project
Promote social inclusion from a cultural, gender equality and economic point of view through a model of a multi-ethnic women's football team.
Involve and educate participants and their families on the topics of sport, team relationships, cultural diversity and healthy eating.
Work on the formation of the group through the competitive phase capable of consolidating relationships and learning new rules.
Sports activities
Two weekly training sessions at the San Crisostomo sports center, in via Palmanova 47, and one weekly training session at the Scarioni sports center, in via Tucidide 10.
The staff, according to the YouSport model, is composed of a coach, assistant coach, athletic trainer and sports psychologist.
In the 2023/2024 season the team participated, for the first time, in the CSI Open B championship.
The “Italian in the Ball” course
The project offers an Italian language course for players who want to learn or improve the language, with a particular focus on football.
The course covers all the main aspects, from grammar to conversation.
Objective
To deepen the language of football with the Game-Based Learning method, proposing a weekly meeting in dedicated spaces.
The third half
The project involves the organization of a rugby-style "third half" after each home game, involving friends and relatives of the players, as well as members of the opposing teams.
Objective
To promote fair play to eliminate the distances between the stands and the pitch.
Happy hour
The project involves the periodic organization, every 8 weeks, of a social event (an aperitif, a dinner, an evening at the cinema or at the theatre).
Objective
To strengthen the bond between teammates and increase penetration between distant social fabrics.
